CNC Machinist/Programmer & Production Supervisor, BioPro
Tell us a little about your role and key activities:
My primary duties are to oversee the day-to-day operations on manufacturing shop floor, review upcoming jobs and evaluate machine capacities and plan accordingly based on sales orders. I'm also involved in contract manufacturing and scheduling.
What do you like best about your employer or job?
I've been working in this field for 26 years and I feel like I get paid to play. I love machining! I came into my job without any machining experience and was trained here. BioPro paid for me to enroll in the St. Clair County Community College schooling apprenticeship program. I acquired an Associates Degree in Precision Machining and Engineering and also obtained my Journeyman's certificate.
Have you ever left the region for work/career or thought about leaving? If yes, what brought you back to St. Clair County or keeps you in the region.

If you could give advice to a high school or college student about career or education choices... or "I wish I had" moments, what would it be?
I wish I would have done better in math when I was younger and got tutoring. Consider a skilled trade job opportunity. A lot of kids are pursuing a four-year degree and there is a lot of opportunity for very good skilled trades careers.
What is your favorite thing about living and/or working in St. Clair County?
I ride my bike to work all summer and enjoy a year-round three-minute commute. Commuters... Why on earth would you subject yourself to all that traffic and stress?
What recent changes or improvements in St. Clair County are you most happy about?
St. Clair is diversifying businesses and investments. The region is really growing.
Why should a job seeker consider making St. Clair County home for work and life?
Life ... you'll enjoy a reasonable cost of living and gorgeous waterways. Lake Huron is an awesome walleye fishery and great for boaters. We're still growing with a lot of opportunities here for development yet.
