Water, Water Everywhere!

St. Clair County is a recreational wonderland. Our waterfront, stretching more than 50 miles from Anchor Bay to Lake Huron, includes miles of boardwalks and recreational trails, ideal places for freighter-watching, fishing or a pleasant stroll.

Sailing and power-boating have long been mainstays of life in St. Clair County, which has one of the nation’s highest rates of boat registrations per capita. Our kayaking is unmatched, too, whether in the marshes of the St. Clair Flats – the nation’s largest freshwater delta – or along the 10.2-mile Island Loop, Michigan’s first and only link to the National Water Trail System.

More than 20 layouts await golfers in St. Clair County and neighboring Lambton County, Ontario, and the Port Huron Tennis House is busy year-around.

Recreational trails crisscross the county, including the 12-mile Wadhams to Avoca Trail with its centerpiece, a 125-year-old iron trestle spanning picturesque Mill Creek from a height of 60 feet. If hunting is your sport, the Port Huron State Game Area provides 25 square miles of woodlands in stunningly beautiful Beards Hills.

For those who prefer to cheer from the stands, our community is passionate about its prep and amateur sports, including the Fighting Falcons hockey club. Fans of the pro game are within an hour’s drive of watching the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons.
