Kanchan Wankhede, Hired as New Director of Entrepreneurial Services

The Economic Development Alliance, (EDA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Kanchan Wankhede, as the new Director of Entrepreneurial Services at The Underground Business Incubator and Service Center.  The Underground, located in downtown Port Huron, provides entrepreneurial support and services to the entire St. Clair County region. 

Kanchan has been a Strategic Management and Human Resources (HR) Professional for the past 24 years.  For the past six years, Kanchan has worked as the Principal Consultant for her company Great Workplace LLC.  Kanchan’s company has helped businesses of different sizes to build a long-term strategy for sustainability, employee engagement and retention.  In addition, over the past year, Kanchan has also been actively working as a consultant to area Minority and Women Owned Businesses for the Community Foundation. 

“We are excited to welcome Kanchan to our EDA team.  She is a great fit for managing the region’s Smartzone Incubator and Business Center.  She has experience working with businesses and organizations that not only have a local or United States footprint, but that spread well into India, Europe and Asia.  As a small business owner herself, she understands the challenges and obstacles entrepreneurs face on a daily basis.   Area entrepreneurs looking to launch or grow their business will benefit from Kanchan’s knowledge, experience and desire to help them be successful, said Dan Casey, CEO of the Economic Development Alliance.”  

Kanchan has led Turn Key Projects and HR Teams within various businesses such as Engineering, Auto Components, Food & Retail and Non-Profits.  Wankhede holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and Organization Development and a Certified Success Coach.
