Position Overview
BTM Company is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector (A-Level) to join our team in Marysville, MI. The Quality Inspector ensures BTM product components—both manufactured and purchased—meet specifications through inspections, reporting, and collaboration with employees, customers, and suppliers. This role requires strong technical inspection skills, the ability to program and operate metrology equipment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, receiving, prototype, fixture, and project inspections; maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Operate and program CMMs and other metrology equipment for automated inspections.
  • Train employees on proper inspection methods and metrology equipment use.
  • Assist calibration technician and support calibration requirements as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and suppliers regarding quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Write clear technical reports based on inspection results.
  • Record and maintain quality system information in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Support and mentor level “B” inspectors to reach “A” status.
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to company Quality Management System procedures and ISO requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Quality Department with strong metrology knowledge.
  • Proficiency in using all metrology instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to program and operate CMMs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to write technical reports and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; email communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements as related to product quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CQI – Certified Quality Inspector (ASQ).
  • Additional metrology training (college or trade).
  • Experience with statistical data collection and analysis.
  • Quality system auditing experience.
