EDA CEO to Retire on September 1, 2026
June 10, 2026
St. Clair County, Michigan – June 10, 2026
The Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County (EDA), Dan Casey, has announced his retirement after 15 years with the organization. The EDA Board of Directors accepted his letter at its June 8, 2026 meeting.
Casey joined the EDA as its CEO on February 1, 2011. Previously, he worked for the City of Southfield as its Business Development Manager, and later for the City of Rochester Hills as its Economic Development Manager. He has served the public in various capacities since the beginning of his career in 1986.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Board of Directors for the support they have given me throughout my tenure,” Casey said. “When I first joined the organization, the county was just beginning to emerge from the recession of 2009. The economy was bleak and the unemployment rate was high. I’m proud of the team and the Board for the incredible work undertaken to recover and advance our economy during those difficult times. We also had incredibly difficult challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic; but, again, the organization rallied to bring critical information to businesses and reignite the economy.”
Casey points to attracting the Magna Electric Vehicle Solutions project to the long-vacant St. Clair Industrial Park as a major accomplishment. He also mentioned the role the EDA has played in strengthening downtowns and supporting entrepreneurs through the organization’s many small business programs.
“There are so many people to thank, especially the EDA team members that I have been honored to work with over the years,” Casey added. “I am humbled by their commitment to the communities we serve. When you work at the EDA, it’s more than a job. It’s about helping people improve their lives. It’s about building strong communities that people want to live in.”
Casey intends to remain active in retirement by continuing to serve on various boards. As a writer, he also plans to devote more time to his craft.
