Summary: Using knowledge of machining, programs, sets up, and operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines. Is skilled at manual machines, metal finishing equipment along with minimal welding skills. Skilled at quality assurance inspections. Able to perform machining operations according to specifications and instructions. Familiar with common field concepts, practices, procedures, and terminology of machining. Performs all functions according to company policies and procedures.
Minimum four or more years of (documented) job-related experience required in machining and/or enrolled in Machinist Apprenticeship. Must be familiar with standard manufacturing processes.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Programs, set up, and operate necessary machinery to produce a quality product or prototype to specification with minimal supervision.
- Ensures that associated quality records are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Inspects parts visually and uses measuring tools to ensure compliance to specifications and drawings and the absence of defects.
- Able to read and understand instructions from prints, part specifications, job routers, and verbally
- Maintains machinery including cleaning and making necessary adjustments. Informs management and/or maintenance personnel of any significant problems with machinery.
- Ability to safely use power equipment and hand tools as required.
- Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
