Environmental, Health, and Safety Director

Biewer Lumber is seeking to add an experienced EHS professional to champion a culture of safety across all of Sawmill and Treating facilities! This person will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental programs that keep our people safe, along with our operations being compliant.
Location: Multisite (frequent travel required – 50-60%)
Work Environment: Industrial/manufacturing setting with some office setting
Accountabilities:
- Lead employee engagement initiatives that embed safety into daily routines and decision-making
- Evaluate equipment and processes by developing safeguards that eliminate or mitigate hazards before incidents occur
- Execute and plan safety/environmental audits by conducting thorough root-cause analyses, and spearheading corrective actions
- Maintain required OSHA and environmental records for all facilities
- Create industry-specific training materials, (presentations, digital signage, and toolbox discussions.)
- Perform regular site inspections, observing work practices, near misses, incident reporting, and timely closure of action items
- Lead safety committees, by organizing meetings, setting agendas, and tracking action plans
- Roll out and administer a (SMS) Safety Management System and optimize use
- Provide data-driven insights and dashboards that highlight trends opportunities for improvement
- Recommend new technologies, processes, and best practices to elevate safety for all locations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 5 + years of safety leadership experience (manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred)
- Proficient knowledge with OSHA regulations and EHS practices
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Hour Certification
- Willingness to travel up to 60% and work in industrial environments
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ability to learn within 12 months
- Experience managing multi-site EHS programs is a plus
