Position Summary
The Donor Relations Officer is a key ambassador for the Foundation, serving as a lead relationship manager for donor engagement, stewardship, and philanthropic support services. This position ensures that fund holders and donors enjoy a personalized and meaningful philanthropic experience—from the moment a gift is made to the ongoing connection with the impact of their generosity.
With a strong focus on both relationship-building and process excellence, this role bridges the heart and the system: creating high-touch donor experiences while overseeing the timely processing and acknowledgment of all contributions.
The Officer will also lead donor events and site visits, partner with other foundation staff to align donors with funding opportunities, and manage the day-to-day work of the Donor Relations Data Associate. This position will include a thoughtful transition and onboarding period with a retiring team member.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and maintain strong relationships with current fund holders, ensuring each donor receives timely communication, updates on impact, and invitations to engage meaningfully with the Foundation.
· Design and deliver tailored donor experiences—including one-on-one meetings, behind-the-scenes site visits, and curated events that bring philanthropy to life.
· Support conversations related to legacy giving, donor advised funds, and other charitable giving vehicles in partnership with senior leadership.
· Partner with other foundation team members and local nonprofits to match donor interests with emerging community needs and funding priorities.
· Oversee the full lifecycle of incoming gifts—from accurate data entry and fund designation to timely, personalized acknowledgment.
· Provide coaching, oversight, and workflow coordination for the Donor Relations Data Associate to ensure an exceptional donor experience.
· Track and evaluate engagement metrics to continuously improve the donor experience.
· Represent the Foundation at community events and public gatherings, as appropriate.
Qualifications
· 3–5 years of experience in donor relations, customer experience, or stewardship.
· A passion for building authentic, lasting relationships rooted in trust and shared values.
· Ability to communicate professionally and comfortably with donors, advisors, nonprofit leaders, and community stakeholders.
· High emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment.
· Proven organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
· Comfort working with donor databases, gift processing systems, and reporting tools (experience with Foundant is a plus).
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
