Summary: The Purpose of the hotel Director of Sales is to lead and manage sales team, develop business leads, potential clients, service existing accounts, sell all hotel facilities, and meet and exceed budgeted revenue.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises associates and/or supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: execute group room, function space, and corporate account sales market; interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding associates, holding associates accountable; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Hires, trains, disciplines, and guides the Sales Team.
- Maintain monthly and annual department sales goals in room nights, revenue, average daily rate, and banquets.
- Participate in tradeshows and networking events.
- Proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new business opportunities through account and market penetration and saturation.
- Identify and maintain constant communication with the hotel’s key accounts.
- Actively sell room nights through outside sales calls, cold calling, tours, etc.
- Actively sell to in-house guests (greeting tours, talking with guests at breakfast to surface additional leads, etc.).
- Conducts hotel tours and site inspections for potential customers.
- Complete and initiate special projects in a timely manner and within due dates.
- Guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing the hotel professionally with our guests and assuring that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all hotel associates to foster and promote a positive working environment.
- Perform duties associated with business development. Develops and follows targeted budget goals. Develops, pursues and follow-through with business leads.
- Develops positive working relationships with existing clients by anticipating needs and acting promptly to rectify any problems.
- Practice effective revenue/yield management to include wise negotiation and booking function space, focused solicitation during soft occupancy periods and effective rate and price negotiation.
- Consults with representatives of client group or organization to plan details for room blocks and meeting space.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the brand, property, and its offerings.
- Maintains accurate and proper handling/records of CRM, contracts, events, and room reservations.
- Notifies various department heads of arrangements made to ensure high level of service and guest satisfaction.
- Inspects rooms and displays for accuracy of needs and desires of each group.
- Promote the property on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Maintains professional, effective links with all external contractors and vendors; ensures that suppliers deliver to stated agreements.
- Assists in budget development for the sales department. Maintains budget throughout the year.
- Completes performance reviews for Sales Manager(s) and Sales Coordinator(s).
- Provides an environment of openness and trust, with consistent feedback and performance coaching.
- Ensures final event and room charges have been completed.
