BMJ Engineers & Surveyors is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. Whether you're a recent graduate or early-career engineer, this position is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative setting while working on important civil and environmental infrastructure projects throughout the region.
What You’ll Do
You’ll support experienced engineers in planning and executing a wide range of water resources and civil design projects, including:
• Stormwater drainage and flood control design
• Stream and river restoration
• Dam inspections, maintenance and repair
• Stormwater management plans
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with preparation of design plans, technical calculations, construction drawings, and specifications
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (e.g., using HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS)
• Draft and review construction documents and permit applications
• Perform field investigations, site visits, and limited construction observation
• Support internal team coordination and occasional client meetings
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS for drafting and spatial analysis
• Perform cost estimating, quantity takeoffs, and report writing
• Uphold company ethics, standards, and quality controls
