Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Housekeeping is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the housekeeping department within a hospitality setting. This position ensures that all areas of the facility are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The Assistant Director will lead a team of housekeeping staff, implement effective cleaning procedures, and manage resources efficiently to provide an exceptional experience for guests.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce housekeeping policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Supervise and train housekeeping staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and high performance.
- Conduct inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and adherence to quality standards.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules around events, check-ins, and check-outs.
- Address guest inquiries or complaints related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally.
- Stay updated on industry trends in hospitality and housekeeping management to implement best practices.
- ·Recognize and correct potential safety hazards, such as broken doors or railings, fire hazards, etc.
- Recognize and correct potential security problems, such as locking doors after hours, etc.
- Understand and follow policies and procedures for the hotel’s key control system and ensure the entire staff is trained and follow the procedures.
- Maintain physical product standards by managing preventative maintenance programs and by scheduling deep-clean activities.
- Handle all duties according to hotel policies, procedures, internal rules and standards
- Have knowledge about all emergency procedures and know how to act on them.
- Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager.
- Assist fellow associates in their jobs when able to improve daily operations of the hotel
Skills
- Strong background in hospitality management with a focus on housekeeping operations.
- Proficient in custodial practices, including floor care techniques and equipment usage.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in housekeeping management, motivating teams to achieve excellence.
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning standards and practices is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with staff and guests.
