2025 Economic Impact Recap: Over 300 Jobs and $160.7 Million in Investments

St. Clair County, Michigan – February 17, 2025  

The Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County hosted its Semi-Annual meeting on February 17. Over 150 attendees listened to notable economic impact numbers shared from 2025. EDA member communities benefited from 339 total new jobs from attraction projects, community development and business expansions totaling $160.7 million in private investment in 2025. 

"Last year, the EDA provided over 250 assistance requests from companies located across the county and this statistic does not even include small businesses that we counseled or trained,” said Dan Casey, CEO of the Economic Development Alliance (EDA). “Overall, 339 new jobs were created. That’s a lot of people and families impacted positively by our work and economic development.” 

In 2026, the EDA shared it will be focused on business retention and supporting local business and working on the following strategic objectives:

  • Undertaking a fundraising campaign to balance our revenue streams
  • Continuing to attract more affordable housing to the area
  • Delivering locally offered training programs to support talent growth
  • Managing and strengthening the programs of the Eastern Michigan Small Business Network

Several companies were recognized at the event with project awards:

  • Flash Steelworks (Attraction Project in Ira Township) - $11.5 Million Investment, 55 jobs
  • Legacy Port Huron Paper (Attraction Project in Port Huron) - $24.5 Million Investment, 82 jobs
  • St. Clair Packaging (Expansion Project in Marysville) - $700,00 Investment
  • PTM Corporation (Expansion Project in Ira Township) - $2.5 Million Investment
  • Sunsation Products (Expansion Project in Cottrellville Township) - $200,000 Investment
  • Michigan Metal Coatings Company (Retention Project in Port Huron) - $3 Million Investment
  • SEMCO Energy (Retention Project in Port Huron) - $850,000 Investment
  • Taco Bell (Community Development Project in Yale) - $1.7 Million Investment
  • Duke Broadband (Community Development Project in St. Clair Township) - $11 Million Investment
  • CocoBella’s Bakery (Community Development Project in St. Clair) - $197,000 Investment

At the event, the EDA also recognized the following companies with an award:

  • P39 Outdoors – Small Business Award
  • Fishbeck – Partner of the Year Award
  • Phoenix Contracting Co. – Legacy Award
