The Quality Operating Systems / Special Projects Sr. Engineer has the overall responsibility to develop maintain, and communicate SMR Quality Management System (QMS) processes required to achieve and maintain compliance/certification to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, Regulatory, and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR’s).,
Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the local QMS. Coordinate and support the departments to achieve certification to all applicable requirements within the ISO/IATF and other standards as required (ie, Homologation, Q1, 5 Star, VDA, etc.)

Develop and maintain local documents to uphold compliance to Global and Regional, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, Customer Specific, and other regulatory requirements as applicable.

Responsible for ensuring awareness and support training to all levels of the team when changes and/or updates are made to the ISO/IATF and/or CSR’s.

Coordinate and/or conduct internal audits, outside registration(s) and customer audits applicable to the QMS.

Support all functions in the corrective action process addressing non-conformances that arise from internal and/or external audits of the QMS system.

Support all functions in the preventive action process as items are identified.

Coordinate the completion of Management Review documentation for meetings to promote continuous improvement at defined intervals.

Assist with intra‑company, supplier and customer communication to ensure that continuous improvement is maintained within the context of the assigned departments.

Assist Quality Director in development and adherence to budgets at prescribed intervals.

Review and maintain assigned records in accordance with assigned customer or government requirements.

Administer the local set-up and inputs to the SMR global KPI system as assigned, and lead the monthly KPI reporting effort for the facility.

Support the comprehensive continuous improvement of the QMS for all SMRUSA disciplines.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities for direct reports include interviewing, hiring and training employee; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university; or 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in quality assurance positions of responsibility to include:

1 ‑ Implementation and/or maintenance of ISO9001/IATF16949 (management representative or equivalent)

2 ‑ Quality Cost Analysis

3 ‑ Quality Information Systems

4 ‑ Problem solving methodology (8D, 5 Why, or equivalents)

5 ‑ AIAG Requirements:

5.1 ‑ PPAP

5.2 ‑ FMEA

5.3 ‑ MSA

5.4 ‑ SPC

5.5 ‑ APQP (or equivalent Quality Planning and Management)

6 ‑ experienced in the use of common software to include:

6.1 ‑ MS Excel

6.2 ‑ MS Word

6.3 ‑ MS PowerPoint

6.4 ‑ MS Outlook

6.5 ‑ MS Internet Explorer

7 – Certified IATF16949 auditor (note: If past, will require recertification), CQE or CQM (desired).

Shall have the ability:

a ‑ to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.

b - ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

c ‑ to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

d ‑ to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions with the goal of improvement through implementation of actions.
