Summary: Using knowledge of machining, programs, sets up, and operates computer numerically controlled Swiss (CNC) machines. Is skilled at manual machines, metal finishing equipment along with minimal welding skills. Skilled at quality assurance inspections. Able to perform machining operations according to specifications and instructions. Familiar with common field concepts, practices, procedures, and terminology of machining. Performs all functions according to company policies and procedures.

Minimum four or more years of (documented) job-related experience required in machining and/or enrolled in Machinist Apprenticeship. Must be familiar with standard manufacturing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Programs, set up, and operate necessary machinery to produce a quality product or prototype to specification with minimal supervision.
  • Ensures that associated quality records are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Inspects parts visually and uses measuring tools to ensure compliance to specifications and drawings and the absence of defects.
  • Able to read and understand instructions from prints, part specifications, job routers, and verbally
  • Maintains machinery including cleaning and making necessary adjustments. Informs management and/or maintenance personnel of any significant problems with machinery.
  • Ability to safely use power equipment and hand tools as required.
  • Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Required Eye Protection at most times. (Prescription Safety Glasses may be necessary for the employee to provide for one's self). Minor exposure to chemicals such as cutting oils and coolants.
