The Economic Development Alliance (EDA) of St. Clair County is pleased to partner with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) to bring seven MMTC training classes to Port Huron. These classes are designed to support talent growth to benefit your manufacturing operations.

This 24-hour interactive course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed become effective leaders and supervisors. The participants will be acquainted with skills and tools to relate to subordinates, peers and their managers.

Behavior Characteristics - Effective leaders understand an employee’s history can bring many different attitudes, beliefs and temperaments to their team. Identifying and navigating through these interpersonal differences can be challenging; an emotion-rich process that requires time and energy. Learn personality and behavior characteristics and appropriate skills for dealing with multiple types of people.

Effective Communication - Effective leaders understand that communication is a complex process that requires effort, attention and active listening. Learn positive verbal and non-verbal techniques to communicate more productively. The participants will also learn active listening skills. This workshop will assist organizations to break down barriers in the communication process.

Motivation - Employee’s morale and personal success is key to high productivity. This course will aid in creating enthusiasm, drive, ambition, initiative, determination and enterprise. Participants will explore the purpose driven model behind motivation.

Effective Time Management - Many people in management and supervisory positions are expected to handle multiple projects, but their efforts are not getting the desired results. It’s easy putting off anything that, theoretically, could be done tomorrow. Learning how to manage time and responsibilities instead of letting them control you is essential.

Building Better Teams - Team building training provides participants an understanding of the importance of teamwork. Through a variety of activities, participants experience real world challenges that teams. Team members will review and discuss behavioral characteristics while building an effective team.

Making Meetings Work - Meetings dominate the way business is done today. Many meetings are unproductive, in that their accomplishments are minor compared to the resources they consume. This workshop will assist organizations to improve the effectiveness of their meetings.

Leading People Through Change - To be successful in today’s fast-paced business world, a company and its leaders must be ready to embrace change. In this course, participants will explore the essence of skillful leadership through utilization of communication, presentation, and monitoring skills to successfully navigate through change.

5S - Participants will learn that a clean, well-organized, and understandable workplace is the foundation for the implementation of Lean manufacturing. The 5S program for the shop floor is a good starting point for an improvement activity. To continue the hands-on implementation, participants will brainstorm methods for removing additional constraints from the manufacturing processes in a specific model area within your organization.
