DESCRIPTION: This course equips manufacturing leaders with the knowledge and tools to strategically integrate AI into their organizations. Participants will gain a practical understanding of Generative AI (GenAI), its capabilities, and its limitations. Through interactive discussions and hands-on exercises, leaders will explore AI’s role in design, operations, quality, and decision-making while learning how to measure business impact, manage risk, and safeguard intellectual property. The course emphasizes responsible implementation aligned with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, helping organizations balance innovation with governance, cybersecurity, and workforce readiness.
OBJECTIVES: By the end of this course, participants will have a foundational understanding of Generative AI (GenAI) and its distinction from traditional automation and analytics. They will be able to identify opportunities to apply AI in key manufacturing areas such as design optimization, operations efficiency, and quality improvement. Participants will learn how to evaluate and measure the business impact of AI initiatives while managing associated risks, including cybersecurity, data privacy, and intellectual property protection. In addition, they will gain familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (Govern, Map, Measure, Manage) and learn how to integrate AI systems and usage into existing IT policies and workforce development plans to enable secure, sustainable, and responsible adoption.
