US Farathane, LLC - is a global automotive supplier that supplies to the automotive industry, including OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

“The company has been awarded several new contracts to manufacture interior and under-hood components and plans to expand two of its Michigan subsidiaries,” said CFO of US Farathane, Jim Gregory.  As a result, US Farathane Port Huron plans to lease an additional facility in the city of Port Huron, investing up to $15,065,000 over the next 3 years and creating 205 jobs.

The company will be leasing a 108,000 sq.-ft. building at 2210 Beard Street for warehousing and distribution.  Leasing of this new space, in the Port Huron Industrial Park, will allow the company to convert its existing warehousing space and expand its production capabilities.

The Michigan Strategic Fund board will be providing a $2.3 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant and the city of Port Huron is offering marketing and promotional assistance and/or use of public facilities in support of the project.

The Michigan Development Program is an incentive program available from the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF), in cooperation with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).

The program is designed to provide grants, loans or other economic assistance to businesses for highly competitive projects in Michigan that create jobs and/or provide investment.

“We are very pleased that Port Huron was selected over other locations in the metro Detroit region,” said Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp.  “This expansion will provide great manufacturing employment opportunities for our residents and the entire St. Clair County region.”

US Farathane LLC, opened in 2014 and the company’s nearly $4 million facility was supported with a tax abatement from the City of Port Huron at that time.  The company’s expansion is a great sign of continued growth.  From a workforce standpoint, US Farathane has an extremely low turnover rate, which is reflective of quality jobs being offered to fill a variety of positions.

“Our region’s automotive industry cluster continues to be a staple for job creation in the community,” said Dan Casey, CEO of the Economic Development Alliance.  He noted that the area continues to see interest from automotive related businesses and that as part of its attraction efforts the EDA aggressively markets our strengths in the automotive sector to outside investors.”
