Meet…Kathleen

Registered Medical Assistant, Lake Huron Medical Group- Dr. Kut

Tell us a little about your role and key activities:
I am a medical assistant in the clinical area and I scribe for Dr. Kut. I bring the patient back to the rooms and prepare the patient to see Dr. Kut before he examines the patient. When I scribe, I assist Dr. Kut with the lab and diagnostic ordering, specialist referrals, and assist with some in-office procedures.

What do you like best about your employer or job?
What I like best about my employer or job is the patient interaction and the hands on clinical aspect. I am constantly learning about diseases, treatments, and working with patients with needed preventative services.

Have you ever left the region for work/career or thought about leaving? If yes, what brought you back to St. Clair County or keeps you in the region? I have thought about improving my career but never left the region or thought about leaving the region.

If you could give advice to a high school or college student about career or education choices... or "I wish I had" moments, what would it be?
If I could give advice to a student about education choices, it would be go for the medical field. The medical field is always needing people. My "I wish I had" moment would be to continue going to school when I had the chance. I had graduated with an Associate’s Degree in the medical clinical assistant program in 2009 and now currently in school for a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. It is a different perspective with working and going to school but it has made it easier when already knowing the terminology.

What is your favorite thing about living and/or working in St. Clair County?
Most importantly is that St. Clair County is my home. It's close to home and I have access to my family when needed during an emergency. St. Clair County is beautiful! The county has so much potential to upgrade and that is what I have been seeing.

What recent changes or improvements in St. Clair County are you most happy about?
The recent changes in St. Clair County I am most happy about is the cosmetic upgrades in our community. The River Walk at Vantage Point, has had recent cosmetic upgrades by adding walk up bridges to the river for fishing sites, the Blue Water Bridge boardwalk added some creative and beautiful sculptures, the lights that hang over Military Street were added in downtown Port Huron, the upgrades to our beaches and parks, and hiring staff to keep our community beaches and parks clean.

Why should a job seeker consider making St. Clair County home for work and life?
A job seeker should consider making St. Clair County home for work and life because it's just beautiful. It is a small community and most of the residents are really nice. Most of the residents around here talk to you like they have known you for years! You have access to the view that overlooks the Blue Water bridge, the view of Lake Huron from our beaches, and how many could say that they can see another country from across the river! St. Clair County has so much room to grow and building a bigger community can help our community become stronger!
